Workshop Description
There’s nothing more delicious than a home cooked meal. This goes the same with fresh pasta and making it yourself is much easier than you think. Great cooking isn’t always about the recipes—most of the time, its taking time to learn new techniques.
This September, Blueboots Farm is collaborating with *wheat and water to create a fun and hands-on experience to make pasta. Specifically in this workshop, we will learn to make fettuccini and farfalle while incorporating ingredients we find in the farm.
The workshop will start with a tour around the farm to explore the different kinds of natural ingredients you can use to make pasta or cook with pasta. Then we will show you how to create the perfect pasta dough by hand, which can be the base for endless variations and shapes. The class will then work with other students to make an assortment of dough from vegetables and herbs, not artificial dyes. Once you’ve mastered the basic technique, you can let your imagination and creativity wild to create your own shapes and patterns.
After the pasta workshop, we will conclude the day with a farm-style lunch.
All tools, ingredients and recipes will be provided. Students can bring home all the pasta they made and recipe booklet.
* Wheat & water combines simple ingredients to create traditional, slow-dried, artisanal pastas. Kneaded in small batches, extruded through bronze dies, and dried at low temperatures, our pastas are creamy yet al dente (“to the tooth,” or with a little bite) and hold sauces perfectly.
